A Rainy Day Kiss: The Moment That Changed Everything

Hai, this is Emma. I love reading books. Most of the days after my college, you will find me tucked in the library, losing the track of my time in pages. Life, that I have learned, is a lot like the book which is unpredictable that is with the twists that you will never see coming.

I hate rain, but now it reminds me of the warmth of your embrace. I remember it was thursday started like any other day. The sky was cloudy, and the cool brezze was as if it wanted to hug the world. I sat in my favourite corner of the library, surrounded by faint smell of old papers and soft shuffle of pages. I planned to finish my novel and return back home before the rain started. But stories have their own way of pulling you in, making you to forget the time.

By the time I looked up, the sky was dark. A low rumble of   thunder rolled through the air. I packed my books and hurried to the door, to meet with curtain of rain. The street was blurred by the downpour, the lamps glowing like tiny suns in the mid of the mist. I hugged the books to my chest, unsure how to dash in the storm.

That’s when I heard it.
“Need an umbrella?”

I turned, and there he was Ishan. We had seen each other few times in the library, exchanged polite smiles, but never more. He was standing just few steps away, with few water droplets on his hair, holding an umbrella out towards me. His smile was warm, kind that somehow made the cold air feel less biting.

“I’d love one,” I said, stepping closer.

We steped together, I heard the rain rhythming softly on the umbrella. The world around us blurred, leaving only sounds of water and the faint scent of his cologne. Our hands brushed once, twice and until finally, he reached over and held mine. It was such a simple gesture, but it felt like a moment where I stepped in to a new chapter.

We did not talk much about books, the rain, and how the city looked beautiful when wet. But I could feel something building between us. It was like twist in story and the climax that you are secretly hoping for.

When I reached my gate, I just turned to thank him. He stepped closer, and his eyes searching mine as if asking for permission without words. My heart was skipping a beat, and then he kissed me.

It was gentle but full of something unspoken, just like the first line of a book you will love. The rain kept falling, but in that moment, the world stood still.

It wasn’t the end.
It was just the first page of something beautiful.

πŸ“š The Temporary Roomie by Sarah Adams – Simple Book Review

πŸ‘¨ What’s the Story?

Jessie who is pregnant moves out of her house due to Mold problem. She moves to her best friend Drew house where she finds difficult to get along. They tease and annoy each other. Now, they have to share the same space with this difference.

What follows? Lots of silly pranks, fake dating, emotional talk and yes and finally they fall in love.

πŸ« πŸ€ŒπŸ»πŸ’—What’s Good About It?

  1. Popular Romance Tropes: If you are fond of love stories where two enemies fall in love or stories like face dating and living together then this book for you. It is all about fun.
  1. Funny and Fun: There is a lot of fun related moments which will make you smile. So if suggest this is great pick if you love to read comedy love stories.

  1. Feel-Good Book: This book just feels like a cozy movie. A warm, romantic and does not go too sad or heavy. I finished the whole book in a day.
  2. Great Chemistry Between Characters: Even though jess and Drew fight a lot in the beginning, their connection feels real and good. As the story goes on, they end up emotionally and their love story becomes cute.
πŸ“œWhat I Didn’t Like

  • Jess Can Be Annoying at Times: Sometimes I feel Jess is bit immature her reasons for being mad at Drew does not makes sense. She acts like a child.
  • Slow Middle Part: The beginning and the climax part is quite strong, but the middle one feels a quite wired. Well, too much of jokes makes the story bored.
  • Too Many Romance ClichΓ©s: If you have read a lot of romantic comedies, this one will be too familiar. Nothing more surprising.
  • Not Very Deep Emotionally: Some serious things like jessie being pregnant is not explored deeply. This book focuses more on fun aspects than serious feelings.

  • People who love to read romantic comedies.
  • Meant for anyone who loves “enemies to lovers” stories.
  • Readers who are looking for something easy, light, and funny.
  • Caution: This book is not for people who want deep or serious romance stories.

The Temporary Roomie is a fun, sweet romantic comedy. It may not be very deep or original, but it’s perfect if you just want a feel-good story with funny moments and a cute love story.
